Is love your recommendations for the best vac for someone with a bad back. We have the type you pull along behind you, 9 years old and falling apart, although I loved it when I got it I find it a bit heavy now and it really aggrevates my back.
It's for a one bed flat, mostly laminate floor boards and carpet in bedroom.

Oh and no pets but I have long hair that sheds a lot!

If it’s a 1 bed flat with mostly hard floors, you’ll be fine with a Gtech Airram cordless. A full sized upright would be pointless and awkward to lug around

Thanks Ecocleaner will have a look at that one

I have a Bosch Athlet it's lightweight (I think) and no pulling cords!

I can tell you what NOT to get. A Dyson cordless for animals. We don't have animals either but we have a toddler so we spent £250 on this epic waste of money. The plastic dust case will open sometimes and spill everything you've just hoovered up and also it doesn't hold the charge at all.

That sounds terrible Buttermilk. I was wondering about Dyson as everyone rages about them.
Will look at the Bosch thanks Mommybear1.

I have a sebo x4 and, while it's hefty, it's so easy to use because it does all the work. I just need to gently lead it around the room and occasionally change direction. Cylinder vacs always leave me with a sore back and wrists because they demand a bit more elbow grease.

Miele Cat and Dog. Because of my hair, which sheds everywhere.

Hands down a Sebo x4. Not the lightest but fantastic on different surfaces and great suction. I also have the stair brush attachment which is excellent.

I also have a Dyson hand held for when I just need a quick run around the kitchen floor.

We have a Dyson v8 cordless and it’s brilliant, I would really recommend it. Sounds like you might have a bad one @Buttermilk. Have you tried calling them? They are usually very very good at fixing problems under the guarantee.
