Dealing with limescale with a septic tank

I’m hoping some of you cleaning gurus may have an answer to this one -

Our house has a septic tank, so cannot use bleach or hard chemicals. I use Ecover for most household things, and sometimes white vinegar/bicarb when i have the patience. However, the bowls of the toilets have become very discoloured with limescale and i can’t shift it with scrubbing. Anyone had any success with dealing with this? Thank you!

Cola is supposed to work.
