Washing machine vs launderette

Our LG gave up the ghost a month ago and we hav3 been using laundrette, which is 1 minute away. Is there any point going back to our own machine? Can’t really see one. Cost is probably about the same. Do fewer bigger washes. Get more space in tiny kitchen. Any one got any thoughts.

What about Emergency washes when the laundrette is closed ?

What would be that much of an emergancy that couldn't wait a day or two or could be washed by hand?

I spent over a year washing at home and drying 3 loads in the huge launderette dryer. That’s because I hate fussing over stuff (is it dry? Does it need turning? Shall I leave it out or is it going to rain? Will it be dry before dark?) and washing is an almost daily chore.
The big dryers work in 30 minutes and your week’s wash is back in the drawers and available to wear.
I now have a condenser dryer which I use for less than half the year. It takes more than 2 hours but it’s more convenient than lugging big bags about.
Cost wise it was €10 or €15 a week which I considered worth it. Buying the machine and running it would take about a year of launderette use.
So yes, if you prefer using the space for another appliance (wouldn’t be without my dishwasher), it makes sense!
However I find whites go limp and grey at the launderette from automatic detergent dosing or shoving everything in the same load and as you probably know babies have a high turnover of nastily stained clothes!

Launderettes appear to be closing at an alarming rate. I couldn't be without my machine.
