Any carpet experts?

Need to buy a new carpet. I had a cream one for the last 4 years that was great as i could put pure bleach on for stains. However the problem with it was the pile going right down and just looking worn by the door and general walking areas. The carpet underneath the dining table still looks amazing considering all the children.

Does anyone know of a better everyday heavy traffic carpet that would be best??
I was thinking of the carpet in school because they get many many shoes everyday and still look great, but can't imagine it being that soft. Wooden flooring isn't an option as we have people below us.

Any ideas?

Hi Twinmummyx2, some people have sisal in hallways, it's robust and environmentally friendly but scratchy to walk on. But you could put rugs over it too. We've got manky wall to wall carpeting but oriental rugs over it which are really hard wearing and hide any marks well. We bring bikes and buggies through and everything and they're going strong after some years. Good luck finding something.
