We're staying in a rented cottage and my son's silly putty has melted into the fabric. How can I remove it? You tube only has videos of US products.

I had no idea this stuff is so horrendous to clean off items - why do they sell it!??

You could try a cheap eau de toilette, this works for chewing gum. It kind of 'freezes' it so you can just pick it off.

isopropyl alcohol got the putty out of my son's carpet. Not sure how easy it is to find in the shops, we've either bought it from Maplin or online.

Go slowly, a quick spray then dab up that bit, the alcohol made it really runny, it's easy to end up spreading the mess if you try and wet the whole lot at once.

Obviously test somewhere it's not going to be seen as it can bring out the colour as well.
