Sticky wood floors am at wits end

Hi my wooden floor has become sticky to walk on. I have tried diff wood cleaners , plain water, steam , noting is making any difference. Any ideas wat to do?

What kind of wood is it, how long has it been down and what is the finish?

My laminate floor became very sticky & I was using laminate floor cleaning.

I now use diluted Lemon Flash and the problem was solved.

The first time I used it I did it by hand to make sure I had given it a good scrub
