Carpet cleaner question.

Hiya, I was hoping people with carpet cleaners could share their wisdom please.

Last night I used cheap vax carpet cleaner on dark brown living room carpet. It's a rented place, they had 3 dogs before us and we also have a dog. I was expecting dirt but the colour of the water was unspeakable.

I went over the high traffic areas twice. Left the windows open overnight and the carpet is dry this morning.

Would I damage the carpet if I did it again tonight? My baby has just learned to crawl, it needs another go.

How often do you or did you need to clean your carpets with pets/kids?
The recommendation is every 12 months from what I can see or "more often if you have pets/children".

Also any hints and tips for best results?

Thank you!

Vacuum regularly.

I’d give it another clean; it sounds grim...

It's much better now but I would feel better doing it again. You should have seen the water. It looked absolutely fine by sight, never would have guessed. I assumed the letting agent would have professionally cleaned before we moved in as we did when we left our old rental. Clearly not.

I vacuum twice a day already, with a decent relatively new hoover so already in the habit of that.

I'm going to do it, with the warm weather we are having I'm sure it will be fine... I hope.

I think you can do it again pretty much straight away. Smile

I am always absolutely horrified by the colour of the water that comes out of my carpet cleaner. It looks like something from the bottom of a pond!!
