I've never owned a steam cleaner so not sure where to start. I've been thinking about getting one for a while because I'm not sure how to clean our shaggy rug, but my toddler tripped this morning and threw breakfast cereal and milk all over the rug, so it's become more urgent 
We've got hard floors, carpets, rugs, a sofa that could do with a good clean. I can't see me using it all the time, just to give everything a good clean once in a while. Any suggestions that don't cost a fortune?
