Make my house smell nice

My house doesn't smell of anything - or mustiness at a push.

We've just got a cleaner but even when she's been (and she does a good job), it doesn't smell clean.

I have bought some reed diffusers but they don't do much except in our downstairs loo.

Am I supposed to put one in every room? Are they all supposed to be really same?

How come some people's houses seem to just smell nice.

I think I might need to wash all of our coats

Open the windows?
Use a mist diffuser like the Muji one.
If you have a pet your house will smell.
Cleaning the carpet and curtains if you have any might help.

We have cats.

Have you tried scented candles?

scented candles don't have to be lit. Aldi has nice ones.

I do floors with vinegar to cut through any unwanted whiffs. House won't smell of vinegar. A little Zoflora on a damp duster. Open all windows as much as possible. Fresh dishcloths daily and teatowels. Wash cushion covers regularly. Any mats/rugs, wash if possible, if not regularly wipe them over with Zoflora damp cloth, do the same with sofas/chairs.

I've just put my cushions onto wash with some fabric conditioner.

They were looking a bit grubby.

Try putting a bit of fabric softener in a spray bottle mixed with water and you can sprits over your sofa/ cushions.... I also find if I spray my blinds or curtains and open the window the smell floats thru the house, keeps things fresh between washes xx
