We bought our Esse range cooker (990EL) from Colnestoves to replace a very old oil cooker that guzzled oil and cost a fortune to service. If you live in the country side and no mains gas so you are restricted to electric, oil/LPG or wood fired. The last three requiring work and in some cases a lot of hard work. The Esse 990 EL is electric and runs on 2 x three pin plugs. Induction plate, hot plate, 2 ovens, 1 x slow oven and a grill. It never needs servicing!
When I saw Esse I thought they were French but they are actually made in Lancashire. They look similar to an American Aga but they totally British and we cannot fault it. About £11 per week to run on 'slumber'. Well worth a serious look if you are considering a replacement or new one.
