Dishwasher making dishes smell

grannynap · 31/05/2018 17:59

Every time we empty the dishwasher the dishes smell like wet dog so then we are having to hand wash which defeats the point.

We've cleaned the filter and arms but still no better.

Does anyone have any solutions please?

Have you done a cleaning cycle, hottest, empty wash with a dishwasher cleaner?

Other option is, sprinkle the bottom of empty dishwasher with bicarbonate of soda, make sure a generous amount, shut the empty dishwasher up, leave overnight. Then in the morning add a bottle of distilled white vinegar (about 40p from supermarket) then run the empty dishwasher on hottest longest cycle.

Bicarbonate and white vinegar are natures absolute best deodorisers, vinegar is also anti bacterial (smells come from bacteria) and is also a really good degreaser, so the fizzing action from the bicarbonate and vinegar will clear the gunk out of your pipes of the dishwasher (which is most likely where the smell is coming from).

Empty filter

Run empty on cleaning cycle with a cup of vinegar

Open the door, run a cloth along the inside bottom edge of the door. There is always a build up of gunk there in my dishwasher.
