Dyson vs Vax? Which is better?

Thinking of getting a new vacuum cleaner? Getting confused by all those options out there. Need something that is ideal for carpet, wooden floors and tiles. But not sure which is best? Dyson or Vax or something else?

I have a dyson v6, it's handy for crumbs but I still have to get Henry out almost daily because I can't vacuum all of the house with the dyson before the battery dies. I definitely wouldn't buy another one.

I used to have a Henry Hoover, but wanted to get something that’s a bit more compact and easy to store away.

Is the Dyson V10 worth the price tag? Or are there are better and cheaper alternatives? 🤔🤔

I have a Dyson, I think it's a v7. It's great, does the job, charge time is fine.

Do NOT get a Vax. They're shite.

I got my vax because the battery life was longer and the power stronger but it was much cheaper and I’m not very impressed by it to be honest.

Shark liftaway. Completely superior IMO! Struggle to find anyone who has a bad thing to say about it.

In the last 3 years I’ve had 4 vacuums. The vax animal died quickly, the Miele got an electrical fault. The vax upright was admittedly old and I got given it by my grandma but it burnt out. Then I just gave in and got a dyson. Works well, easy to clean and lasted 2 years so far. Which reminds me that I need to clean out the vacuum graveyard closet....

Shark Liftaway! Got a new one three months ago, should have been £350 but was £200 on the Shark website. It absolutely knocks spots off my Dyson.

Interested as our very old Dyson died today - we've had it over 17 ears so can't complain. I've not heard of a Shark before. Are they good with pet hair? We have two moulting moggies......

blacklister · 28/05/2018 21:17

My Shark Liftaway is the pet hair model (it's called True Pet or something). It's excellent.

TheFairyCaravan · 28/05/2018 21:19

Shark Liftaway. They are so much better than Dysons and cheaper.

Shark duo clean cordless is amazing. Had a Henry & Dyson V6 previously & these both pale in comparison to the shark

Sebo. Got my first one in 1983. Replaced it in 2001 with my 2nd Sebo. However, in 2014 my husband 'borrowed' it to use it in garage (I think drains were involved) and became a bit whiffy which couldn't be cured by changing the bag or filters.

I was 'persuaded' by daughters (and Mumsnet) that a Dyson would be better.

After 6 months with the bl**dy Dyson I begged John Lewis to let me swap for another Sebo. Thankfully lovely JL's agreed. So now on my 3rd Sebo. Oh and the 2nd is still being used for odd garage/car/garden rugs type things. Outside...in the fresh air.
