How do you stop jeans getting lines down them?

As in the title: I've just put on some of my jeans and they've got those horrible lines of colour down them, that happens after being washed. I've seen it happen lots to brightly coloured jeans, but these are blue stonewashed denim! Washed inside out, 30 or 40 degrees, tumble dried. Please help! Thanks Smile

This never happens to my jeans but I don't have a tumble drier.......

BrutusMcDogface · 26/05/2018 10:32

Hmm! Thanks for the reply! Maybe the tumble drier is the problem!!

I always wash jeans inside out and never get lines.

Oh, sorry I’ve read your post properly and see that you do wash them inside out. I don’t tumble mine, so that might be it.

Matilda1981 · 26/05/2018 18:52

Yes agree with other people - don’t tumble dry or if you do make sure you flatten them out a bit first or only tumble dry a bit and then flatten them out to finish off drying!

Don’t they shrink in the tumble drier?
I used to work for Levi’s & I’ve never seen lines but I’d definitely advise to keep them out of the drier!

Thanks again! That's what I'll do, then. Boo! I thought jeans were meant to be tough?! Grin

Nancy- they don't shrink, they're a bit tight when you first put them on but they soon stretch again!

It can't be that as I get lines and have never tumble dried jeans. They just seem to naturally flatten next to the seam to create that washed out tram line effect. I just try and iron it out as much as I can. Good question, but I don't know the answer!

birdsandblossom · 26/05/2018 22:21

Is it when they dry creased?

wowfudge · 26/05/2018 23:10

I tumble dry jeans and have never had lines down them.

MikeUniformMike · 28/05/2018 13:51

Maybe you are overloading the washing machine.

TroubledLichen · 28/05/2018 13:55

Wash inside out. I always tumble dry (I’m in America where outdoor drying is not a thing) and never get lines.

BrutusMcDogface · 28/05/2018 15:42

Overloading the washing machine? Not sure, maybe. How would that cause lines though?

The clothes need room to move about in the drum. You know how hemmed jeans have a line if you take the hem down - that sort of idea.
