How do you organise your dirty / clean laundry?

Does everyone have their own dirty basket in their rooms? Who collects it all? Or do you have one in a central location (bathroom?) and expect dcs to put stuff in there? Do you have a system for sorting dirties by colour? How do you transport the dirty and clean laundry up / down stairs?

Sorry - I know boring - but I think if I could get a good streamlines system going it would be so much more efficient...

One basket. Dd is encouraged to use it but often I put her stuff in it. STBEx only gets his stuff washed if it's in basket I refuse to go hunting for it anymore.
I sort it once a week usually and then wash according to colour. Transport it in my arms away from body as much as possible on way to machine .
If drying outside transport in basket if indoor carry it and hang on airer.
After ironing I put mine and dd's away in cupboard etc. STBEx can put his own away .(i only wash it together as it saves money, when he moves out he can do his laundry himself) .

We have one communal basked upstairs. I sort the clothes there before a wash. I keep a large collapsible crate next to it which I use to transport clothes to the machine and then into the garden to peg out and bring back in.
