Ballpark figure for installing central heating needed urgently!

Already posted this in "other" but am desperate for viewing this afternoon in area where houses go like crazy. Just after a ball park figure is it £10k, £15 etc. No fancy fittings or anything just your basic bog standard.

It's a three bed, small, terraced house in London and I guess we'd need to do a new but again basic combi boiler or similar. We need to work out our budget and if we can't afford to put central heating in for this winter not sure we'll brave all the other work that's required or be able to afford house in the first place of course.

Any ideas gretefully received...Help!

Phone some plumbers/heating engineers and ask?

Would be interested in the answers as we've just moved into a 5-bed house which needs heating, replumbing, rewiring and a bathroom.

We were working on a ballpark figure of 10K, but sounds like our house is bigger, so yours should be less.

we had a quote the other year just to replece the bolier with a combi and that was £1500 but obviously didn't include any of the radiators or pipes.

Just been looking old threads. circa 2004/5 estimates looked lke well within range of 3.5k, but not 100 per cent. Very good idea about calling plumber, in fact other thread was talking about British Gas doing the job...

That's good to know, Fio. I was just using a worst-case scenario working figure -- but because we're doing complete replumb, rewire and new bathroom at the same time, the figures are never going to be entirely comparable.

my friend lives in a large 1 bed basement flat.

he has recently had an entire central heating system installed from scratch. (he didnt even have a gas supply to his flat (but otehr flats in building did have a gas supply)

british gas quoted over £10k

in the end he paid just over £3k.... for all the parts and labour and installation of an ENTIRE central heating (and hot water) system.

It wasnt that 'easy' though, and due to the design of the building some pipes went out of his flat into the corridoor and back in again

he basically had a whole new boiler, a radiator in kitchen, living room, bathroom and bedroom, plus all the pipes etc etc.

Its a MASSIVE victorian mansion, so although its a 1 bed basemant flat it is still a V large flat!

all for £3k!

Have no idea re London prices (am hick from sticks!!) but we had full central heating installed for £3,500 in the North, 3 bed semi.HTH,£10,000 sounds a lot.
