Curtain heading tape gone mad

The pockets on the heading tape on my ready made curtains will not hold the hooks in place - it just stretches and unravels and the curtains sag. I have tried to tie off the ends like I do with the strings when I gather up the pleats but no difference. The strings and the pockets seem to move together. What am I doing wrong?

Well that shouldn't happen. Can you get all the threads out at both ends and tie them off? Not that I've ever had to do that. If they just stretch then there's definitely something amiss and I'd take them back.

You're not doing anything wrong, something is wrong with the header tape. It shouldn't ever do that.

I have made my own curtains and you have to sew where you cut the header tape so it doesn't unravel like that.

Where are the curtains from?

Thanks for advice, I'm not imagining the problem then! They were an online order, I'll get on to the company for a replacement.
