How to not spend a day cleaning...

I currently have a cleaner every other week but we're trying to save some money so am thinking of doing it myself. I work 8 - 3 during the week and every other Saturday (my husband works the other Saturday) so Sunday is our only family day and I don't want to spend it cleaning.

How do you all keep on top of housework so it doesn't become a major job? I'm worried if I try and do a room a day the house will never feel completely clean if you know what I mean?

Clean and tidy every day. Or split upstairs and downstairs.

Split cleaning bathrooms and the kitchen floor from the dusting and hoovering other rooms and get it done in a couple of chunks?

I currently split it over 3 days:

Tuesdays - dusting and vacuum upstairs
Wednesdays - kitchen and bathroom
Thursdays - bed sheets and downstairs floors

As well as doing things daily like:

-Vacuuming downstairs (gets filthy with no hallway and a buggy in and out)
-Cleaning toilet and giving bathroom quick wipe down
-wiping kitchen counters
-laundry as and when I get a full load
-making beds

And tidying. Constant tidying.
