Where do you keep carrier bags?

Everytime I open the cupboard under our kitchen sink my dh has stuffed it full of carrier bags. I can't find anything I actually need as it's all buried under the bags.
We don't even need to keep all these bags!

What is your carrier bag policy & where do you store please?😄

We have a bag of bags under the stairs

Bitchywaitress · 13/05/2018 17:14

I have 2 quality shopping bags.
Every time I forgot to take one and have to buy a bag I feel guilty and throw them away so they can't mock me

HollowTalk · 13/05/2018 17:15

If you drive, keep a bag full of bags in the boot.

WinkyisbackontheButterBeer · 13/05/2018 17:15

Mine are all folded into little triangles like chrisp packets and kept in a box.

The bigger bags for life are folded up and under the sink.
They won’t last like this though. I had a big tantrum about them all falling out last week and sorted them out.

They will be back in a mess as soon as dh has used them.

Ikea sells, or sold, a thing which was a plastic bag dispenser. You hang it up somewhere, push newly acquired plastic bags in the top and pull a plastic bag out through one of the holes in the sides when you need one. Ingenious…

Reader, I have never once taken a plastic bag out of this thing to use it.

It is a useless piece of rubbish containing other useless pieces of rubbish.

I keep the thinner ones the food delivery comes in a holder thing like one of these and it hangs in the cupboard under the stairs: (I only keep a few in there; most get sent back with the delivery driver)

The bags for life and proper "shopping" bags are folded in another bag and hung next to it.

No particular fancy hanging system btw, just a couple of strong nails banged into the wall!

WhoKnowsWhereTheW1neGoes · 14/05/2018 11:38

Bags for life stored in car boot, the 5p ones are stuffed in a two ended sausage thing hanging on a peg by the back door. Mainly use for charity shop stuff.

NewSense · 14/05/2018 11:43

All bags in one nice bag for life type bag and hanging up in the downstairs cupboard to grab on the way out to the shops.

A few spares in the car boot for emergencies.

If we have too many 5p bags, they go back in the recycling boxes at the supermarket to keep things under control! It's rare that I buy more than 6 bags of shopping at a time, so I try to keep the number of bags under 10, and now most of those are sturdier jute bags or thicker plastic ones, so just look less messy than the thinner crinkly ones that seem to get everywhere!

DorothyGarrod · 14/05/2018 11:48

Boot of the car, some are in my drawers at work for unplanned shopping trips.

Gibble1 · 14/05/2018 12:51

Dh likes to keep them ALL OVER THE HOUSE🤬. We have a basket in the cupboard under the stairs which holds plenty. We also have them in the car boot.
I have a couple of “onya bags” which are great. Made of parachute fabric and stuff into a bag which attaches to your keys.
PP- you want to keep your wrapping paper in your Ikea jobby. Far better storage solution!

MismatchedPJs · 14/05/2018 13:44

We don't seem to have many any more. Giant ones for the supermarket live in the car boot. Occasional 5p ones get folded into little triangles as PP said and live in a small sandwich bag under the sink. Love the triangle folding thing!

Jammiebammie · 14/05/2018 13:48

I have a plastic holder from ikea in the utility room - it has wee sticky pads at the back of it and can be hung with a screw too, so could go on the inside of your cupboard door. Before I got this, I used the leg of a pair of tights - not pretty but did the job!
here

I’ve actually got quite a few of these for other reasons too - they hold my rolls of vinyl and wrapping paper 😁

Justgivemesomepeace · 14/05/2018 13:48

I have a bag of good shopping bags (bags for life type) in my car boot for the supermarket trip, a dispenser thing for cheapy carrier bags under the stairs and a bag for life full of carrier bags under the stairs. I need a carrier bag clear out.

MaMisled · 14/05/2018 13:48

I have mine in a simple but beautiful bag bag made by my step daughter at school ten years ago. It hangs on the kitchen door.

GummyGoddess · 14/05/2018 13:49

Mine are all folded into triangles so they're neat. Loads in DH's car and loads in my car so we don't have to bring even more into the house when popping into the shop. At least one per bag (any bag, handbag, changing bag, swimming bag) and a tube of them in the kitchen (also triangled).

Before going on ML this time, I also had some in my drawer at work to ensure I wasn't collecting extra bags anywhere.

DH also gets a look if he buys more so he now remembers to take the ones from his car into the shop when he pops in.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 14/05/2018 16:08

All in one bag under the stairs. I then give them back to the Ocado driver next and get 5p per bag back!

The small plastic bags they sometimes put my raw meat or cleaning products in are pushed into empty tissue boxes - the bags are the perfect size for our bathroom bins.

megletthesecond · 14/05/2018 16:10

The Ikea variera plastic bag holder. Fixed to the cupboard door under the stairs.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 15/05/2018 13:39

I don't have loads! Bags for life life in tbe car. And I have a bag of bags (about 7 bags in total) which date from before the carrier bag charge (not supermarket ones, ones from clothes shops) which is in a cupboard. I'm constantly decluttering so I'm using these up. I keep a bag in my handbag, so I never have to buy anymore. Stopping them coming in is the key!

MikeUniformMike · 16/05/2018 14:16

Keep about 5 bags for life in the car. Pop one in your handbag and one in your DH's manbag. Take the rest to a charity shop or recycling bin.

cherrytree63 · 24/05/2018 10:49

I don't have many as I've got better at taking bags for life shopping. Some shops still give them away free and I fold them in a little box under the sink and use them as bin liners.
I have one of those silky bags that scrumples up into a pouch which lives in my handbag for any non planned shopping trips.
I do have a gazillion bags for life/ huge laundry bags which I collected when I was living in a caravan between houses, the place was really damp and I kept my clothes and bedding in them to keep it all a bit dryer. But they're gradually being used for charity shop stuff.

QuinionsRainbow · 24/05/2018 13:04

We have a bag of bags in the boot of thecar.
