Long washing line

I've recently converted from a hated rotary line to a long line. My previous long lines were all on a winch to raise them, but this one is kept up with poles.

The line is about ten metres long and there are two 'props' going into grass. How the hell do I stop my washing all just sliding down and bunching up around the props? Is there some magic pegging method that I'm missing out on, or do I need more props? I live in a very windy region and I'm tired of pegging all my bedding out right along the line, only to find it all in one screwed up mass ten minutes later...

The line is fixed at around head height, can't fix it any higher or lower.

It sounds like the line isn't taut. Try tightening it so that it doesn't sag.

Are the ends tied to something fixed?

Zaphodsotherhead · 11/05/2018 14:43

Both ends tied to something fixed, yes. It's not very taut, but it's not saggy either... I'll give it a quick tighten up, see if that helps.

Overlap the end of one item and the start of the next so that the pegs have more grip?

Is it a peg problem? My line is a similar length with one prop and no problems. Or is line too slippy?

Zaphodsotherhead · 11/05/2018 19:47

I do overlap the items currently. I've no idea what's going on, I never had this problem before, just with this line! It must be something to do with angles... I'm going to tighten it up and see if that helps.

I think we need a photo or diagram.

It's dark now I'm home and I'm a bit busy this weekend - will try and get a picture and post it!

Do you push the pegs on as far as they will go? Past their little round cutouts so the line is gripped close to the peg hinge. My clothes never slide when I peg like this.
