Smelly washing machine drum

I cannot get rid of the damp smell from my two year old washing machine, I have tried cleaning it with baking soda and white vinegar.
Any other tips welcomed.
Can I pour bleach in it or will that erode it?

Have you tried a washing cup full of soda crystals?

bluerunningshoes · 11/05/2018 08:28

have you tried a hot wash?
cleaned out the filter?
do you use liquid detergent or liquid tabs?

I had this and tried loads of stuff in the machine with no success.

I phoned bosch and they said to run the 90 degree wash with nothing added, so just plain water, for as many times as it took the smell to go.
And it worked after a couple of cycles, it hasn't come back.

Mine smells if I use non bio for too long so try a few washes with bio. Before I realised, a hot wash with a dishwasher tablet helped.

Make sure the seal, filter and drawer are clean (I put the drawer through the dishwasher but use your own judgment on this!) then as mando said, run it at 90 degrees.

I had this recently (moved into a new rented property and the washing machine smelt really musty). I used Dr Beckmanns Service It washing machine cleaner. Did the job first time!

I was going to mention checking the seal. Kids muddy clothes make this worse and it took me a while to realise there was a lot of smelly gunk in the folds of the seal

What washing stuff do you use
I used to have this problem when I used fairy non bio liquids
Now I've switched to Tesco bog standard non bio powder and don't have a problem

Mumsmet · 11/05/2018 18:19

Many thanks! I will try a bio powder and your other tips!
