After your steam iron recommendations. My tefal pro express has just given up the ghost. We live in a hard water area and this is my second in four years. What do you recommend? TIA

This thread is a bit old now, so if you have landed here looking for recommendations, we have recently updated our guide to the best steam irons featuring products tried, tested and recommended by Mumsnet users.
We hope you find this useful.

Are you looking for an iron or a steam generator?

I have a Philips steam generator; had a fair few Philips irons, due to them being switched out often (not broken) was also selected as a Philips product tester a few years back and have always been happy, some are better than others though.

Also have a Rowenta steamforce (which is a handheld) one and is AMAZING, could easily rival any steam generator I’ve used, only downside, it DRINKS water.

Interested.
Sainsburys have some on good offers this week. The one I wanted was out of stock. I am debating about buying a steam press. My sister had one and said it was great. Initially expensive but apparently she iron everything with it. Then I could get rid of iron and ironing board from kitchen. Press fitted under her sofa.

Anyone used them?
