Vacuum cleaner advice

I'm in the market for a new vacuum cleaner. I don't want battery operated. I have a dog and live in a barn conversion so it needs to be good!
Preferably bag less but am willing to try a bagged version

What would you suggest...

Shark lift away. Amazing.
I vacumn everyday. No shoes allowed indoors. We have 1 cat. It is full of hair, dust and grit. The carpets are only 2 years old.

What are you floor types like? Carpets? Hard floors? Mixture of both?
Do you prefer an upright or a cylinder?
