Hello, I am considering renting a rug doctor to clean my sand coloured carpets but also wondering if it is worth buying own machine.
I need one that can do stairs and my budget around £250 or less.
Can I find anything like that or should I just rent rug doctor?

I have a vax machine. It was around £150, and came with a free steam cleaner too...it's a dual power one that does heated cleaning. There was an option when I bought it (from vax) to spread the payments. It's much better than a rug doctor (I think) as the rug doctor is heavier and less flexible. I'm really pleased with it- I use it to clean my sofa as well, and it has an attachment to use on stairs that has a spinning brush.

We hired a rug doctor and everything smelled so lean I’d like to own one. What kind of Van did you buy?

I just checked it was a dual power pro- they’re about £230 on Amazon these days. I got mine direct from vax as it was on their website when I bought it, when the free steam cleaner stopped working they were really good and sent me another, and a prepaid thingy to use to send the broken one back. So I’d recommend their customer service.

I now use a Bex Bissell Cleanview Proheat and love it. I formerly used the entry-level BB cold water machine. I found it good too throughout many years of frequent use, but it was damaged after being dropped onto concrete. Once tried a basic Vax but couldn't detach the dirty water container properly and flooded the kitchen with its contents!

Thank you all!
I cannot decide between bissell and vax. Does anyone know what which says?
