Washing fabric lunchbox in washing machine?

Anyone else have the fabric insulated type lunchbags?

How do you keep them clean, are they ok to put into the washing machine? If so do you wash alone or with other bits? what temp do you wash on and would you use normal detergent? Just wondering what others do, thanks in advance

My son has one that says just to wipe clean...but i do chuck it in the machine. I do it on a gentle wash, 30 degress and with regular washing. It has survived thus far and looks a lot better for a wash!

I bung them in at 30 all the time.

My ds's says wipe clean only, it was rank so I had nothing to lose by shoving it in the machine. It came out fine.

I have machine washed them too and they have been fine in a 30 degree wash with clothes. I recently washed a coat that said dry clean only on a 30 degree wool wash and that too came out fine. (It's quite a old coat and couldn't afford dry cleaning it).

Ds has one that is the same fabric as a wetsuit, and I was is at 30degrees.

Turn it inside out if possible, wash in with towels and then dry.

If you put them in regularly they start to disintegrate but the odd dunk in a 30° wash seems to be ok.

Like when there's a yoghurt explosion on the Friday before May half term and child leaves lunchbox at school... there's not enough wiping in the world to be confident of the clean!

You can also put them in the dishwasher... not every week but I clean at the end of each day then a couple of times through the school year put it in the dishwasher and it’s been fine. Replace them each September though.

I have done it before with mixed results. Some washed fine, but one did go lumpy - I assume the lining inside must've wrinkled up!

Thank you I’ve just been giving it a really good go over with a sponge and leave to dry I think Ill try and pop it in at 30 at the weekend and hope for the best Smile

My daughter's one is from Asda and cost £6. If is machine washable at 30. I've done it twice now and it's come out fine.
