Storing curtains - should the tape headers be released?

I have just taken down our thick winter curtains and cleaned them for storage over the summer. Can anyone tell me if I should release the tape headers? I am not sure if I can leave them pulled in or if it is better to untie them so that the fabric lies flat. Thanks for any advice.

Yes, I would definitely release the tapes - in fact you should have done so before cleaning them so that they clean evenly . The curtains may end up looking a bit streaky otherwise! 🙂

I tend to store flat and remove hooks. As everything gets lost, all the hooks go in a nappy bag and are tied onto the curtains!

Thanks both. ('Cleaned them for storage' was - fortunately, it now seems - overstating the case as I have so far only taken them down and removed obvious dust. But I'll now release the tapes, get them flat and clean them properly, hopefully avoiding streaks. Thanks again.)
