I'm going to stay with an older cousin in France. What is a nice idea of something fairly English to give her as a thank you for having me stay in her home? Budget of around £30.

How about some lavender sardines from liberty? 20% off until midnight tonight

Bone China cup and saucer set.
Beautiful teapot with tea leaves.
Delightful English smellies.

This may sound odd but my daughter shares a flat with a girl from Northern France. Her mother’s friends apparently love our double handed oven gloves as they don’t sell them in Northern France, or maybe anywhere in France! So she collects a few pairs to take over at Christmas as presents.

I would second the idea of anything to do with tea, china teapot and cups and saucers as many families, my brother’s included, use bowls. The French often drink tea without milk so a selection of various teas would be good.
