How do you get vomit out of carpet?

I usually get up the worst with kitchen towel then scrub with hot soapy water and finally got over with that antibac spray that's for soft furnishings. It gets rid of the stain but still smells for a couple of days. I wondered if anyone has a better method. Would Zoflora ruin the carpet?

Diluted zoflora is fine - I recently used it on my carpet when my youngest vomited.

I always use washing powder - sprinkle on, work in and scrub!

Clean up worst of mess then sprinkle on bicarbonate and Hoover once dry.

Bicarbonate of soda is brilliant for taking away the smell and won't do any damage to your carpet.

Definitely bicarbonate of soda ..... make a strong solution and then spray it with one of those plant mist-ers ...... my DD was a very vomity child and bicarbonate spray worked every time

Great advice, thank you! Don't know why I never thought of bicarb I use it to clean most things!
