Fabric softener dispenser full of water

My Indesit has an issue where the section where you pour the fabric softener is always full of water. I'll empty it out, put the f.s in and at the end of the load it's back full of water again. I've cleaned it out so that's not the issue. I asked the Indesit online support and they said run a v hot wash which I did, didn't make the slightest bit of difference.

Anyone know how to solve?

It's a built in washer/dryer if that makes a difference.

Did you clean the roof bit of where the drawer goes?

Do you often use the quick cycle?

I had this problem and I solved it by not only cleaning the dispenser then cleaning behind it, where it slots into the machine ifyswim

Yes, I removed the tray completely and cleaned it. I also cleaned inside the machine where the tray usually sites. I even poked a needle into the holes above the tray where I assume (?) the water drops down from.

Yes, I always use the quick wash.

IWDE126 is the Indesit model if that makes a difference should anyone have the same one.

When I have water left I just pour some extra water in and it makes all of it dispense. Saves taking the whole drawer out

I had this issue recently. As well as cleaning the tray and the roof, I also put baking soda in the drawer (and white vinegar in the drum) and running the machine on a 90 degree cycle to give the whole machine a good clean. I also poured a few kettle fulls of really hot water into the fabric softener compartment to try and clear our any built up gunk. It has been totally fine since, no more water in the tray.

Oh and I also have stopped using Comfort and use Lenor instead. Comfort is thicker and I think it causes build-up more easily.

When this happens I find I need to give the drawer a really good clean. It's usually the holes that get clogged up. I use an old dr browns vent cleaner but I bet a pipe cleaner would also work well!

Dh researched the same issue, the machine needs a hot wash to flush pipes thoroughly now and again. Cured ours!!

I had this with my old machine, I even put it on a 90 degree wash cycle every couple of weeks but it still filled up with water.

I think in the end I came to the conclusion that the machine was getting old and had it a good few years and it was time for a new one.

I spent ages cleaning all behind the drawer with a bleach spray and ran an empty 90 degree wash with soda crystals - no result.

I cleaned the roof of it and it works x

I cleaned the roof with an old toothbrush and that solved the problem for me

We had a vaguely similar problem and it turned out a little plastic tap thing controlling the water pressure had split so the water was not fully on. Something to check if you’ve already tried all the other suggestions.

Looked a bit like this and it was the blue plastic bit that had a crack in it.

The instructions on my machine say to dilute fabric conditioner with water.

I gave the roof a good pokey scrub with a toothbrush - worked a treat :-)

I had this problem and had to scrub the inside of the drawer for dear life and poke the holes at the top with a hard toothbrush and then it was ok but clogged up again fairly quickly. I remember reading something about having to take the front of the machine off and check and clean the jets that way incase they're blocked from the inside they won't work properly leaving it full of water xx

It will be the hole above where the fabric conditioner is taken from, I know you said you'd poked a needle in but did it result in a 'plug' of black gunk? If not there will be some left in there, keep poking til you get it! It's fiddly AF but always solves the problem once it's clear.
