How long to leave a fridge freezer to settle

I have had a new fridge freezer delivered today, the sales person said I need to leave it for 4 hours before I switch it on, the delivery guy said at least 4 but up to 8.

My old one keeps stopping working then starts again so I am anxious to switch the new one on and get down to temp so I can save as much food as possible.

What do you all recommend and I can't see anything clear about this in the manual

I don't think it has been laid flat at all, purchased yesterday, delivered today, I saw it come off the lorry and was up right or only tilted a little to move it.
