So this afternoon I dropped an entire bowl of cheesy, tomatoey pasta on our grey living room carpet. I blotted with soapy water and a new sponge, then with dry kitchen roll then with cold water. I can still see it...staring back at me....help!!! Any good products to lift this??

Try white dilute vinegar on damp cloth, gently rub in the direction of the pile.

Meant to say don’t use Vanish, it ruined my new, expensive, wool, grey carpet.
I had to live with the marks for years.

When I claimed on insurance after managing to get a wood stain our lovely new grey carpet (spilt water on a wooden table, wood stain leached onto carpet for a couple of days before we noticed) they sent round a carpet cleaning expert.
He was amazing!
Basically we had knackered the carpet by getting it too wet with cleaning solution (yep, vanish) then scrubbing, so wrecking the pile. He advised to lightly spray with a tiny bit of cleaning stuff & water then dab off with a clean white cloth.
And then totally agreed we needed a new carpet. I will call him if I ever have carpet stain needs again Grin
