Loo roll (dull, I know!)

Specifically Andrex. What has happened to it? Bought 2 big packs recently and it's wafer thin and the rolls are telescoping. Terrible. We have tried the Aldi one and other branded ones before but always prefered Andrex by a county mile. It cant be just me that has noticed? Today I have ordered on line from an eco company with fancy paper wrappers and no plastic. They claim to be better than most. I do hope so as 48 rolls of bamboo tissue are heading my way!

Cushelle!

I always buy Waitrose essentials 9 pack and I can't tell the difference between that and Andrex (save for there being no pictures of puppies).

MikeUniformMike · 04/04/2018 21:39

Cushelle has a reputation for not breaking down in water.
I would find a loo roll you are happy with it and stick to it. If you live with someone who uses about half a roll each time, buy thin cheapish stuff.

I like asda quilted

eloisesparkle · 06/04/2018 21:14

M&S in the yellow packaging.!
Simply the best Smile

Cushelle is very good (didn’t know about the breaking down issue in water though :()

In terms of store brands, Sainsbury’s is the best I have come across.

I remember years ago that Shades (Asda own brand) was really good, don’t know if still is as I don’t shop at Asda much at all.

Fintress · 07/04/2018 13:04

Andrex is bloody awful these days, I agree. I hate quilted loo roll of any type.

DropItLikeASquat · 07/04/2018 13:28

what are the value/ budget loo rolls like, I usually get the own brand ones or Aldi and I do sometimes look at the cheapest stuff but it looks so thin I'm scared ill end up with a crying toddler who's fingers have gone through it and I just can't deal with finger-poop gate at the moment lol.
is it worth the saving for the value/ smart price stuff

ScreamingValenta · 07/04/2018 13:33

Asda Shades is still good, e1y1.

lollipopjones · 07/04/2018 13:37

We use nouvelle. I have also ordered the fancy eco bamboo stuff. It's not great tbh and it looks "cheap" but I'll leave you to make your own mind up on that one. We've got about 20 of the eco rolls left and when they're gone, I'll be going back to nouvelle.

keepingbees · 07/04/2018 13:41

Cushelle blocks my toilet. We use Morrison's own and that's always been fine

e1y1 · 07/04/2018 13:47

Ah good to know Screaming

MayFayner · 07/04/2018 13:54

I used to use Cushelle or the green Andrex one, but we have had major drain problems here and we're told to stick to thinner paper in future so as not to exacerbate the issue. Currently using Tesco own brand, it's fine actually.

Skippetydoodah · 07/04/2018 13:55

I buy Nicky Elite - you can get it in Savers, Home Bargains, Farmfoods and probably lots of other bargain shops. 18 rolls for 3.99 and it has aloe vera in it. Much better than Andrex IMO and about half the price!

onemorecakeplease · 07/04/2018 14:00

I buy ASDA shades too and it’s fine

PistFump · 07/04/2018 14:04

I really like ASDA shades quilted.
