Funny smell when ironing

Can anyone help? I finally got round to getting through this weeks ironing, but when I was doing it I noticed a funny smell. Not sure what it was and never noticed it before. Is it time for a new iron or is it an easily solved problem? Anyone know what it might be?

Did you remember to wash the clothes first 😂

CraftyGirly90 · 24/03/2018 12:17

Yes the clothes were washed 😝. Some of them had only just come off the radiators x

Do you leave water in your iron? Have the things you have been ironing taken too long to dry and gone smelly? Is the ironing board cover smelly?

Is it a steam generator iron? I had one once that started to smell like sick Sad
Couldn't solve it so it got thrown out.

wow - I always empty the iron when I'm finished with it, the clothes themselves smelled fine and the iron board cover is only relatively new. So don't know where its coming from.

chimi - no, its a regular iron. That sounds awful, how much had it cost you do you mind me asking?

It wasn't a fishy smell was it? We had a light switch which eventually shorted out and that smelled fishy shortly before it went. We didn't realise at the time but subsequently made the connection.

CraftyGirly90 · 25/03/2018 20:27

No wow, it was more funky than fishy
