Does anyone have either the Karcher or the Bissell hard floor cleaner (sweep and mop combined)?
If so, do you have any recommendations? Thanks

Hi JoeyBrummie, thinking of the exact same thing myself - either Karcher FC5 or Bissell Crosswave.
Have you bought yet or have an opinion on either, thanks

Hi I have the Karcher I love it brilliant on tiles takes far less time than mopping and vacs as well so no need to do double the work! Love the fact you can machine wash the rollers too Grin.Feel free to ask me any questions.

Thanks mommybear1
I was veering towards the Karcher myself but then saw demos on YouTube that said the Bissell Crosswave was better - they seemed to suggest that you had to vacuum floors before using Karcher as it didn't pick up well.

I usually don't have big messes to clean, only crumbs and dirt/dust, do you find the Karcher is sufficient to pick up this kind of debris?
Thanks

Meant to say, I have laminate flooring kitchen/Living Room and bathroom

Hi I've had no problem with the Karcher picking up bits I've been quite surprised at how good it is tbh - I used to vac then mop now this does the two jobs I've never had to go back and vac. I will say though as per a mop sometimes it doesn't get stubborn stains I tend to notice them when going round with it and give them a quick spray with fairy and water then go back over them with the Karcher.

I have a slate uneven floor (don't EVER get one, if I owned this house it'd be out in a heartbeat - does look lovely as long as don't look too close!) do you think either would work well on it? Been considering the bissel based on YouTube but all smooth floors Angry

Morksmate · 10/10/2018 19:59

Thanks again mommybear1, as usual I have looked at that many reviews/opinions my head hurts! Will make a decision tomorrow! Thanks again :)

mommybear1 · 10/10/2018 21:38

Hi @Morksmate no problem I had a hard time with the reviews as they were critical and some amazing. I asked on MN and had some good reviews I was also going to get a refurbished one but figured I'd try it and send it back if no good.

mommybear1 · 10/10/2018 21:42

@kshaw hi hummm I have to say I'm not sure how well it would work on uneven floors as I think you'd have to provide a lot of pressure/effort pushing the machine forward. I'm fortunate in that we have just renovated and self levelled the floors but there is one spot where the tiles have slightly risen I have no problem with the machine going over it but I can hear it if yswim? You could look at buying one and returning it? I'm not sure if the Bissell would be better as the head looks slightly more flexible. HTH?

kshaw · 11/10/2018 06:31

Thanks you @mommybear1 that's helpful. I think I'm going to go for the bissell and like you say return it if it's not great. The floor is the first thing people compliment on this house but when you live with it (with an 18month old that throws food!) it's an absolute nightmare

fayeus · 15/10/2018 10:21

Hi Kshaw...did you purchase the Bissell crosswave....i'm in deliberation which one to get...but i think the bissell drys the floor too....i have high gloss floor tiles that show up every mark.... :(

twojues · 20/10/2018 19:14

Do these pick up dog hair ok? We've got two dogs and tend to have clumps of fur on the floor. Just wondering if I would need to hoover first (which defeats the object) or if these pick up ok.

Mum2KSS · 28/01/2019 15:27

Hi - sorry to resurrect an old thread but I would love to hear reviews of the bissell - I have a combination of gloss / mat tiles and wood laminate in my house...any pros/cons greatly appreciated :)

RachelWarwick · 01/02/2019 10:07

Got the Bissell and have to say very impressed, after careful research it appears to pick up chunkier crumbs etc when compared to the Karcher. I also like the fact that it will stand independently rather than have to return it to a stand like the Karcher. All in all I think both are great products but opted for the Bissell. The cons does not quite clean up to the edge of the kickboards and it is quite loud.

Mum2KSS · 01/02/2019 20:36

Thanks RachelWarwick I saw a YouTube demo and it looked awesome, the guy chucked cereal, jam and eggs on the floor, he picked up the larger pieces of egg shell by hand and the bissell appeared to tackle the mess superbly...even better to get a second opinion from a mumsnetter! I best get saving ;)
