I'm struggling to keep my new build bathrooms clean and new looking!! The main issue is limescale in toilet (even though I bleach it almost every day) and also around he sink plug holes!? How does everyone clean their bathrooms? I seem to be doing it all the time but still struggling!!x

Bleach won't tackle limescale. Have you tried a toilet cleaner that treats limescale?

jarox · 12/03/2018 21:32

Yes sorry I meant toilet cleaner... currently use duck toilet cleaner which says it's supposed to tackle limescale!?

The HG professional stuff is really good for limescale. You can get it in B&Q or online. I have the same problem but this stuff last in the loo overnight always works. Cillit Bang for sinks. Horrificly un-eco friendly but I haven’t found anything else that works as well.

Have you tried Viakal on the sink plug holes?

Aprilmightmemynewname · 12/03/2018 21:53

Hg do a x 3 scale away.
Bloody amazing!!

Hate limescale (moved from north to south and still struggle to believe how grubby limescale makes a just cleaned bathroom look) HG limescale stuff for deep cleaning and viakal for regular cleaning.

bakingdemon · 12/03/2018 23:15

Viakal is amazing for fixtures like taps and plugs especially

Chrys2017 · 17/03/2018 15:39

I would highly recommend a water softener—not only will you be free of limescale but your water cylinder will last longer and your skin/hair will thank you for it.
Whenever I have a shower at the pool now I feel grubby from the hard water.

DearTeddyRobinson · 17/03/2018 15:56

I spray viakal or Limelite on to the plug hole and leave it for 10 mins or so, gets rid of most of the lime scale. I feel your pain, we are in London and the water is making our lovely new (ish) bathroom look grotty!

Viakal spray
Harpic 100% limescale remover toilet cleaner

Life Changing!

Viakal is amazing for limescale. Spray it on and leave for recommended time then scrub with a brush, rinse and clean with toilet cleaner. Remember to keep windows open though to ventilate! Xx

I use some stuff called Kilrock gel, we had awful limescale in a loo and basin, thought they would have to be replaced, but that stuff really worked. Cheaper than viacal too.
