Best place to buy bedding

Bought a new bed and upgrading from a double to super king so need new everything.

Can anyone recommend:

  1. Mattress protector (cotton one, not the plastic kind)
  2. Duvet (which tog to go for? Also seen feather and down duvets - are these any good)
  3. Bed covers ( like cotton soft not silky kind)

Any recommendations gratefully received.

  1. Mattress Protectors - I got a really good quality one from Debenhams years ago that is still good but most recently I bought some good ones from Dunelm.

  2. The duvet tog will be a personal choice - I run hot at night so prefer to have a super light summer duvet (4.5 tog) all year round and then just use blankets as and when needed in winter. DD, on the other hand, prefers to have two duvets - a light summer one and a heavy feather-filled winter one - that get switched out seasonally.

  3. I have two really nice good quality Dorma sets per bed from Dunelm (one on the bed and one as a spare) and one or two cheap sets from Asda for emergencies (e.g. when DD is ill I will make her bed up with the cheap sheet set because I usually buy them in the sales for less than £10 so if they end up ruined I don't feel bad about throwing them out and buying new.)

I must admit I have got all our bedding from Primark - not sure if they do super king size though. I find the clothes awful but the bedding washes and lasts well!

Duvets are from Ikea - we have two for our bed, a 10.5 and a 4 tog. Both have lasted years and wash well.

Home Sense is good for nice quality bedding at a good price.
