Please please help me MNers - dying light coloured denim, is it possible?

I have a pair of jeans that fit like a dream.
DH however is right in his description of the colour as "poodle rocker pale" blue.
I would like to dye them deep indigo. Presumably they've been bleached first - will this affect it?
Ooh forgot to mention one of the reasons they fit is that there's lycra in them - can you even dye lycra?

lycra is synthetic and will take the dye differently than the cotton

I wouldn't

why not get a bubble perm and a blouson jacket and just go with it?

lol suzy - interesting about the lycra.
I can't wear these jeans out in public - people would think I was on the way to a bad taste party or something. They really that bad.
They weren't that expensive (New look) and I'm wondering whether just to do it.

It rocks (though obviously in a 00s Glastonbury kinda way and not in a poodly way, like me)

was also going to suggest the Dylon denim dye, should be fine, even with lycra but they do have a careline and/or email address you can contact with your queries so might be worth trying that...
