Please please help me MNers - dying light coloured denim, is it possible?

I have a pair of jeans that fit like a dream.
DH however is right in his description of the colour as "poodle rocker pale" blue.
I would like to dye them deep indigo. Presumably they've been bleached first - will this affect it?
Ooh forgot to mention one of the reasons they fit is that there's lycra in them - can you even dye lycra?

lycra is synthetic and will take the dye differently than the cotton

I wouldn't

why not get a bubble perm and a blouson jacket and just go with it?

Dylon seems to sell denim dye (click on the pic of the box for info - strange link)

lol suzy - interesting about the lycra.
I can't wear these jeans out in public - people would think I was on the way to a bad taste party or something. They really that bad.
They weren't that expensive (New look) and I'm wondering whether just to do it.

awesome jackie thank you and thanks Suzy for warning.
I love the way Mumsnet just knows these things.
It rocks (though obviously in a 00s Glastonbury kinda way and not in a poodly way, like me)

was also going to suggest the Dylon denim dye, should be fine, even with lycra but they do have a careline and/or email address you can contact with your queries so might be worth trying that...
