Cat sick on granite hearth - how do I/can I restore the granite shine?

I've cleared up the cat sick from our new granite heath but the stone is now sort of stained - I guess it's because the sick was acidic. Any ideas on how to restore the finish or do I have to get a granite polisher person in?

I vaguely remember my mum using oil on a cloth on our hearth to polish it.
Ordinary 3-in-1 type oil from a hardware shop.
Was a very long time ago though, not sure how accurate my memory is

I used to use WD40 on my granite hearth stone. Always came up a treat. Don't use too much though as it can smell!! Do it with a soft duster.

baby oil works wonders

You are stars! I must admit I thought that the stain would be too much for a spray of oil - but WD40 has done the trick.
Thanks for all replies
