Anyone else had this problem with the Braun Multiquick hand-blender?

It's one of

these

and the problem is that the spindle which runs through the white lid that fits over the mixer bowl that you attach the motor part to seems to be rusty inside and leaks rust-coloured water into the top where the motor attaches. I didnt mind this as it wasn't in contact with the food but tonight when i took the lid off after using it to puree hot apple there were droplets of the rusty stuff round the inside of the lid.
I'm not going to give that to my baby, now am I?

Might be a good source of iron

Ah yes, I used to have one of these. I chucked it and got a £5 basic one from the supermarket which the end just comes off and goes in the dishwasher. It takes slightly longer but is much better.

I guess you could try sealing it with vaseline?

We've hardly used it!

Take it back. I bought a cheap as chips one, detach the head, sling in dishwasher. Used it lots, no rust on it at all.

at the amazon link, where one of the features is 'large chopper'.

(sorry)

Oh bollocks, have just dug out the instructions and read them again - was not supposed to immerse that bit or put in the dishwasher....
Anyone got one they dont want? I'll buy it off you.....
