How to I get rust stains from a toilet bowl???

Tried Jif and bleach

Are you sure it is rust? How did rust get down a toilet bowl?

My BIL had to fix a diaphragm (no not that sort!) inside the tank. there after a small brown mark arrived where the water enters the bowl. It isn't a turd. I thought rust (from the pipes) is the most likely cause

A pumice stone will get rid of the rust apparently. You have to rub it on the stain. Not sure how that will work if the stain is below the water mark though......

MB - I was thinking of posting on the same topic (really sad case). There is also similar discoloured calcium deposit under the rims of loos in our house. I have tried Viakal (powerful stuff) to remove it in the past and have even soaked loo paper in Viakal and stuck it to the inflow - but the results weren't brilliant. I remember my father used Spirit of Salts to clean a filthy loo in a house we'd just moved into. I expect you should know what that is and have full protective gear for putting it on!
