How often/no. Hours for cleaner

Hi,

Just wanted to garner opinions. We have a 4 bed, 3 bath house. We’re all out all day (around 12 hours each a day) and work long hours so don’t like to spend time cleaning in the evening/weekends as free time is precious!

Currently have a cleaner once for three hours a week. In between we wipe down surfaces and occasionally hoover but that is it. I think we probably need to up the cleaner to twice a week but is this excessive?

Please don’t just tell me to stop being lazy and do more myself Grin looking to hear how others keep their house clean and how much they outsource?

Thanks

In your situation twice a week sounds very sensible Smile.

Are there just two of you? Do you use all the bathrooms and bedrooms? If yes, just two of you, you aren't using all the bathrooms or bedrooms then I would think 3 hours is enough.

Foodylicious · 25/02/2018 22:31

Surely it can't be that bad if you are not there so much?

What day of the week do you have a cleaner?
Could changing days help

Foodylicious · 25/02/2018 22:32

Or maybe 2 x hrs a week if you want a bit more done.

Foodylicious · 25/02/2018 22:32

Or chuck in a deep clean every 3-4 weeks?

I say if you think the house needs it then increase the cleaners hours. My husband and I both work full time and we have 2 small boys, spare time is precious and i’d rather spend it with them and cooking. I have a cleaner twice a week for 4 hours, my house sounds like a similar size. Alongside cleaning my towels are washed, bedding changed, washing done and hung out and food delivery put away. If you don’t want to do it, pay for it!

I’d speak to the cleaner and see if they could come twice a week for 2 hours each time. So you’re increasing hours by 1, but getting someone in twice.

What’s not getting done that you feel needs it?

We have two kids and have a cleaner twice a week for three hours each time and this is not enough for us - we need one every day probably! If its just two adults, once a week should be enough. I think its when you have kids, its impossible to keep house clean, unless you have cleaner every day.
