How to remove black marks from carpet?

There are black marks on the carpet under my DH desk. It looks like chewing gum but there are several spots of it I think it might be from the dark soles on his shoes. Any ideas as to how we can get rid of this?

You could try shaving foam.... it gets rid of nail varnish on carpets. Don’t ask me how! Grin

Used washing up liquid neat on something similar along with elbow grease.

Vanish power shot - fabulous stuff

Try this? A mixture of white vinegar and bicarb of soda lifts most stains. Sprinkle the bicarb on the carpet first then add white vinegar and watch it go to work. Wipe up residue with a cloth then add water and mop up with cloth.

Thanks all for your suggestions! I shall be trying them out. Smile

1001 spray, yet to find anything that couldn't get out!

Hi. Try shaving the spots off. My boys had some black spots in their bedroom carpet which I thought was off of the shoes. I managed to shave the spots off the carpet. Don't shave too much of the carpet down. Just the surface to remove the spots.
Good luck.
