Best vacuum cleaner for pet hair?

My Dyson V8 Absolute, which I wasn't that impressed with brand new, is just about useless now, 10 months on. I am thinking that a cordless vacuum maybe just hasn't got the power required to clean up after a family with a large dog. We have carpet and hard floors. I want a machine that properly picks up all the dirt and dog hair in a satisfying manner! Any recommendations please?

My meile is great. I think it is one especially for pet hair. I have a different head for carpets and it picks up the cat hair straight away. I love it. I had a Dyson before and much prefer the meile.

I have a Dyson and a Sebo (one upstairs, one downstairs) and both are good with pet hair. Granted the Sebo doesn't see much active service these days, but when it lived down stairs it was great.

I’ve found the best thing for dog hair on carpet is a rubber broom - we’ve got long haired dogs and every week we get at least a dogs worth of hair out of the lounge carpet.

Once you’ve used the rubber broom a cheaper vacuum does a great job, so no need for the really expensive ones. We’ve got a Vac pet and that was expensive but can’t cope with the dog hair/carpet combination unless we use the broom first.

'Meile cat and dog'! It's survived 2 long haired cats and 2 huskies...there's about 3 or 4 different attachments for hair.

Look here - homus.org/best-bagged-vacuum/ I've found at least 3 pet-friendly vacuum cleaners that are able to sort out your issue. The first model can be Hoover T-Series - this is for hardfloors and carpets. The real perk is a good filter system for a reasonable price.
The second model to check is Kenmore for cleaning both pet odour and hair. But this one is heavy. And the last one is Prolux. Although it is the most expensive from the three
it has many additional adjustments.

I've got a cordless V6 animal and it picks up everything my stupid big Dyson leaves behind. Ive got a dog that seems to think her full time job is leaving her black fur everywhere. It all gets sucked up with my cordless.

When we got our Labrador we also got Roomba 980 to keep the constantly shedding pet hair under control. From my experience I can state that it really does a great job on both tiled floors and a decent job on carpets. Though there are more good robot vacuum cleaners for pet hair, if you have time, just do your research - robotbox.net/top-5-best-roomba-robot-vacuums-pet-hair/ . Hope this helps.

Shark! It's the best vacuum I have ever had and I had 2 cats and a long haired dog. They are cheaper then Dysons and much better IMO.

I agree on the Roomba. Especially if you have carpeted floors + pethair. yikes, i think it's a deadly combination. I noticed that it has powerful suction. You may check it further if you want. It might also not be a good option if you're on a tight budget though, but if you plan to splurge, i think it's worth checking.
