Washing duvets

Okay so long story short, my 10.5 tog double duvet needs washing (says on the label it can be machine washed) however I’m not 100% sure it’ll fit in my washing machine, I’m tempted to take it to the laundrette but the machines there don’t have many settings and I don’t want to risk ruining my duvet by not having it on the right setting. Has anyone had any success with washing their duvets in their domestic machine?

I've always taken duvets to the launderette and they have set prices for washing and drying them - they don't usually leave you to your own devices with them ime.

Yes but I only have summer 4.5 ones which wash perfectly. I also have winter 13.5 ones and they are too big for a domestic washing machine so I take them to our local dry cleaners who do a duvet wash service too. No idea if a 10.5 would fit tbh. Also, probably depends on the filling. Mine are all anti allergy, goose feather probably wouldn’t wash well.

My duvet is hollowfibre, I can wash my sons single one and it comes out very nicely but I’m worried if I try to wash my double it’ll be too big and it will stop the machine from spinning.

It'll be a launderette jobby. I have a 9kg washing machine and can fit our summer duvet in it (4.5 tog) but not our winter one which is 10.5 tog.
