DD weed on the landing carpet and now we can't get the smell out! I've tried using a carpet washing machine but it's old and not all that great because the smell's still there. Help!!!
TIA

something with anti bacterial stuff in it -my carpet doesn't show stains - i used dettox general spray for poo and wee! febreeze is good too.

Thanks, will try one or both of those! I tried Febreeze after washing it but the smell came back.

Can the concrete underneath have absorbed it??? Will I have to rip up the carpet???

It was only a little wee too.

It could have absorbed the wee. OTOH, it's quite possible that the carpet smells a little manky in any case (not a comment on your housekeeping, carpets can get pretty rank with time! ) but you've never sniffed it before so never noticed.

Try wetting the carpet with a solution of bicarbonate of soda in water (equal volumes of each), then rub more bicarb into the wet carpet. Leave it to dry, rub a tablespoonful or two of ground cinnamon into the wet patch (only do this if it's a dark or heavily patterned carpet), brush up any loose stuff, then leave overnight and hoover up all the rest. The bicarb deodorises, the cinnamon replaces any remaining smell with something more pleasant.

I meant to rub the cinnamon into the patch - not to wet it again.

Thanks everyone.
