OOps

Promise to clean & shine sink when DD is at preschool. Then will shout at DH if he puts anything in it before bed time

sorkycake · 02/05/2007 08:37

Sink is shiny!
I'm off to get washed & dressed and get kids up & breakfasted. Baby is fed and now sleeping.
This is it!
Good luck everyone x

NormaStanleyFletcher · 02/05/2007 09:14

Well I have loaded the dishwasher and hung out washing and put another load in. DD is in her highchair munching bread so I am going to let her watch me wield the bleach!

GreebosWhiskers · 02/05/2007 09:26

All I've managed to do so far is hang out the kids' nappies! Haven't even washed the dishes in the sink never mind the blurdy sink itself!

Damn - just realised I don't even have a plug for the sink. Looks like a trip to the hardware store is in order

NormaStanleyFletcher · 02/05/2007 10:43

My sink shines. DD is awake again now so my workrate is non existant. I am going to try to set a timer though and see how much of the rest of the kitchen I can clean in 15 minutes

glassslipper · 02/05/2007 10:44

My sink is clean and i've managed to do 15 mins in the hall

NormaStanleyFletcher · 02/05/2007 12:09

DD wouldn't let me do much apartfrom unload the dishwasher but she is napping now so I am going to blitz the kitchen for 15 minutes. I might even clean out the fridge!

I have other suggestions for shiny sinks that don't involve bleach

will slip them to you secretly if you so desire

NormaStanleyFletcher · 02/05/2007 12:15

Ohhh yes please Cap. I usually minimise bleach usage in our house, but for the first day of this project I made an exception.

Cappuccino · 02/05/2007 12:22

okay you can buy a product called Shiny Sinks it is a jif type cream

you can also get little polishing pads from Wilkinsons or wherever which you can polish your sink with using washing up liquid

you can also get microfibre cloths which are designed for stainless steel and glass, they are thinner and finer (and great for cleaning windows too with bit of vinegar)

NormaStanleyFletcher · 02/05/2007 12:25

I have to say I am a real fan of microfibre cloths.

Thanks for that

chirpygirl · 02/05/2007 12:38

Right, I am back from playgroup and a nightmare trip to B and Q for a plug (all their computers are down so everything has to be done by hand)
DH is getting DD to sleep before he goes to work so am off to fill my sink with bleach...or whatever!

glassslipper · 02/05/2007 12:39

I love the 'shiny sinks' cleaning stuff. Dont have any at the moment. I used bleach just this once but will revert to a bit more elbow grease as i dont like using it much either...

thank you for the 'well done' norma

Villain · 02/05/2007 12:58

i've a nasty white plastic sink

wadda I do?

glassslipper · 02/05/2007 13:01

bleach i reckon...

purpleturtle · 02/05/2007 13:01

I managed to clean my sink, unload the dishwasher and put on a load of washing before going out for my half-termly stint at nursery with ds1 this morning.

Just eating lunch, then I'll hang out the washing before going to help in school library this afternoon. And that'll be it!

chirpygirl · 02/05/2007 13:17

Right, sink is full of bleach, washing up is put away and dishwasher is loaded.
Have also hung a load of washing out but DH has woken up DD so that's me buggered, how am I supposed so finish the sink?!

Smutti · 02/05/2007 13:49

AAAAAGH. I have got a shiny sink... BUT... keeping it shiny is driving me nuts! I don't want to use it now ! I have already wiped it dry 5 times today (going thru' 2 towels in the process). Are we really supposed to keep this up all day?

sorkycake · 02/05/2007 14:23

Ok I've done two wash loads and I'm about to hang it out. I have 2 more to do (wet bed) but have had to postpone it as my nephew took a pink felt tip to my white sofa!!!! I'd only put the fecking covers on this morning. That's in atm. My sister of course has not stuck about to see if it comes out

The kids trashed my living room whilst I dealt with the stains, so I've made them tidy that away, but supervising them means nothing else gets done and the baby will wake soon.
Honestly it's like shovelling snow in a f*&^% blizzard. Aarrgh!!
Dishwasher set away.
We've been to the Library and soft play today so not too bad all in all. Off to play a game with kids, catch up later.
Oh, sink has been clean, dirty, clean, dirty and now clean again.

theheadgirl · 02/05/2007 14:24

Headgirl, reporting in - the sink is done! And, I too, don't want to use it again!

chirpygirl · 02/05/2007 15:06

Another reporting in!
I now have a shiny sink but I have washing up to do now...might have to leave it til later, don't want to spoil the effect!

This getting dressed thing tomorrow, my makeup, hair stuff and shoes are all kept downstairs as I wake everyone up if I do them upstairs, so can I cheat a little?!

NormaStanleyFletcher · 02/05/2007 17:02

If you need to go downstairs to do it I don't think that is cheating

My lovely clean sink is now full of grotty pans and stuff

NormaStanleyFletcher · 02/05/2007 17:03

I will make sure that it is shining again before I go to bed tonight though!
