Dye stain in carpet- help!

I'm hoping the power of Mumsnet can come up with a minor miracle for me... About a year ago, we moved house and one of our cats was not happy about it and weed on our brown leather sofa. I cleaned it up and all trace of stain and smell disappeared from the sofa. However, I've just noticed that some of the dye from the sofa must have run down the side when I was cleaning and has left a small-ish stain on the carpet. Now, considering this was nearly a year ago, do I stand any chance of getting the stain out?? We live in military rented accommodation and will be charged the earth for it when we come to move out... Confused So far I've tried shaving foam (has done nothing) and Fairy liquid mixed with vinegar (I think this may have helped a bit). And other tips welcome! Thank you.

Any chance of getting sunlight on it if you move the sofa? It is great at fading out stains.

carpet stain remover.

Hmm could give sunlight a go. It's the darkest room ever, but the patch is fairly close to a window. Have tried carpet stain remover already to no avail. I often find the homemade solutions work better, hence asking on here. Many thanks.
