Where / how do you store fruit?

We have a pretty minimalist kitchen, everything tucked away and built-in. I don't know what to do with the fruit though! Some is in the fridge, but we have a load of bananas, apples and oranges kicking about each week, too many for a normal fruit bowl, which I find annoying anyway.

Looking for ideas to copy please!

A bigger bowl?

I like apples cold from the fridge, personally.

Fruit including courgettes and peppers keep better in a fruit bowl or vegetable rack.
I use a vintage vegetable rack

Store bananas separately on a banana tree.

I used to have a big fruit bowl but there would always end up with a tired satsuma getting lost at the bottom of the bowl and going mouldy. I've just replaced with a set of three smaller bowls - bananas have their own bowl, and I don't have the problem of old fruit hiding any more.

I've just been reading new advice that apples should be stored in the fridge now, in the bag. Whereas bananas continue to be an evil influence unless you've got a rock-hard avocado to deal with. I've just spotted a big but flat wire fruit bowl at John Lewis that might do the trick for the fruit that still needs keeping out of the fridge, and it shouldn't lead to a lost rotten satsuma! Hopefully.

DD and I get through a lot of fruit in a week so I actually ended up scrapping our fruit bowl and bought a tiered stand like the one in the picture.

It's actually meant as a planter to put in the garden with trailing plants in, but I have it in the corner of my worktop and it's great - I can separate fruit out so the bananas can be kept away from the other fruit but still be in the same general vicinity; if I have fruit that needs to "ripen at home" then I will put it in a separate bowl to the fruit you can just grab and eat immediately and I can easily see which fruits we tend to be more in the mood for and adjust my buying to reduce the waste (eg if I notice there's a lot of apples left in their bowl but the orange bowl is empty, then the next week I will buy less apples and more oranges)

I have a shallow wicker basket lined with packing straw. It's big so fruit can sit in a single layer. You could use a shallow wooden box or even a cardboard box.

Mine are currently in a long line on the kitchen work surface! I don’t recommend it!

I like melj’s tiered bowl.
