How do you organise chores when you both work shifts?

Both dh and I work different days each week and I've recently gone up to full time working as well as him which makes it hard to have a rigid cleaning schedule as our work patterns are always different.

We're pretty good at keeping on top of tidiness, the kitchen and laundry but it's the rest of the house- things like dusting, mopping, vacuuming, actual cleaning that we don't know how to organise so that they get done each week.

Anyone any tips please?

DH and I used to work varying shifts and we had a bit of a wing-it approach to the weekly clean. We would have to plan and discuss everything 3-4 days in advance when we worked out how our days would co-ordinate. Every job was more or less done every 7-9 days, I couldn't get worked up about being a day or so 'late' to do the dusting or whatever.
