Removing candle wax from delicAte material

'D'H moved candle sticks off the mat they'd been put on to protect the table cloth before the wax had hardened and white wax has spilt onto a beautiful but flimsy table runner. I'd hoped the hardened wax would just peel off but it hasn't. Can I just wash it in warm water and hope the rest comes out? Or any other suggestions please? The runner is coloured so need to be sure whatever I do doesn't take the colour out. Thanks

Cover the wax spots with a sheet of plain brown paper and gently iron with iron warm enough to melt wax (as hot as the fabric will allow). I was taught this by a lovely old lady who dealt with all the alter cloths at our church Smile

Thank you @Seeline - I remember reading about this as a way of removing fatty stains too. Don't have any brown paper in the house, will have to see if I can buy some tomorrow. Thanks again

Dry cleaning just dissolves candle wax without needing any spotting treatment.

You can use kitchen to instead of brown paper.
