I currently have a 7kg/5kg washer dryer which takes THREE HOURS to dry a basic load of undies / dc's t-shirts and trousers etc.
After spending Xmas and NY with both sets of parents and seen the delights of their separate machines I'm God-damn gonna find space for a separate tumble drier. The w/m will stay as is for now....
We are a 3-person household and I'm undecided between a 6kg and a 8kg dryer.
We only tumble dry in winter really but we have a king-sized bed and I like to launder towels once a week (save them up to do a separate 60 wash and epic tumble).
My PIL have a 8kg tumble just for them but I've read they are less efficient if they are underfilled. Compared to my washer-dryer the drum is HUGE and I don't think I would fill it.
DC is 3yo so has small outfits. Once she starts school will I regret it if I've gone for a 6kg machine?
(The 6kg tumble I'm looking at has an interior light. It's likely to go in a very large cupboard. Would this be a deciding feature?)
Can't find a 7kg machine I like!!

You aren't supposed to fill the drum completely, otherwise your clothes can't tumble and they end up creased and wet in the middle.

I would go with the biggest you can find and fit in your space.

We are a family of four (2 adults, 1 adult sized teen and a toddler) and have a 9kg tumble which is perfect. We do however only have a small (5kg) washer and I have to split loads in two to be able to wash them. I would go for as big as you can afford.
